Fundraising at St Mark's church

Fundraising

Church of England churches famously have a thermometer outside. The thermometer usually announces the total raised towards the steeple fund.

St Mark’s is no exception. We are raising money to repair our spire and to complete all the outstanding mandatory repairs on the building this year. The total will be about £130,000. In addition to that sum we are also required to pay our bills, so the challenges are formidable.

Fortunately we have a formidable Fundraising Committee who organise events as imaginative and varied as race nights, a night at the opera in the village hall, open garden weekends to name a few. Our local pub the Axe and Cleaver also supports church in various ways, an annual Elvis Night being a popular date.

These events are open to all. Tickets are available from our church ‘Box Office’ located in the Village Store opposite church.
